The SEC handed out a hefty fine to LSU for its fans throwing debris onto the field during the LSU football-Alabama game Saturday night.

Louisiana State University asserted that it would not tolerate the unlawful behavior of its fans after those in attendance at Saturday's game rained down trash onto the field

"LSU never, under any circumstances, condones the throwing of debris onto the field of play at any of its venues," the athletic department said in a statement. "This kind of unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, and we will take immediate steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.”

LSU and Ole Miss have both been fined by the SEC for violations of conference rules. The Tigers will be the second school fined $250,000 this season for fans throwing trash and debris on to the playing surface,
