Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District is evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. Among the communities in the district are Red Wing, Hastings and Eagan. For years it was represented by Republicans. Craig broke that streak in 2018. Craig has won both her reelection bids in 2020 and 2022 by comfortable margins.

Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan has been named one of four co-chairs for the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the Democratic National Convention Committee announced Sunday.
The enthusiasm for the newly reconfigured ticket is unlike anything Minnesota DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin said he’s seen since President Barack Obama ran in 2008. There are “record crowds showing up at events, record amounts of contributions being raised” and “people are just coming out of the woodwork to volunteer for the campaign.”
