Powerball players, the results are in for the Wednesday, Oct. 16 lottery drawing. Here are the winning numbers.

The lottery jackpot was an estimated $408 million with a cash option of $196.3 million for Wednesday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot was last won on Aug. 19 when a California lottery player won a $44.

A Powerball ticket sold in California won $562,699 but just missed the $409 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, Oct. 16, the California Lottery said. It was sold at Quality Market in Newcastle, which is about a 30-mile drive northwest from Sacramento.
