Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the NDP is turning its back on workers by holding up a promised $250 rebate the Liberals promised to send to millions of Canadians.

Trudeau announced last week that the government would be pausing the GST/HST on select items, including beer, takeout food, children’s toys and Christmas trees in time for the holidays, but also send out a new rebate for working Canadians in the spring next year.

Trudeau announced a C$6.3 billion ($4.5 billion) affordability package that includes temporary relief on the federal sales tax and a one-time C$250 rebate to more than 18 million Canadians.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not appear willing to budge on his plan to send a $250 rebate to "hardworking Canadians," despite pressure from the opposition to give the money to seniors and people who are not able to work.
