Governors in several U.S. states have ordered flags flown at half-staff today in recognition of the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attack on Israel, a gesture of mourning and acknowledgment of the ongoing humanitarian suffering in Gaza and across the Middle East.

Several events have taken place across Israel to commemorate victims a year on from Hamas's attack on 7 October. Israel's parliament lowered the country's flag to half-mast to mark the one-year anniversary.
