Officials are investigating after several Hudson Valley students were the targets of explicitly racist text messages that were also sent to Black and Brown students in several states since Election Day.

Racist text messages summoning Black individuals to "pick cotton" have been sent out to residents across the country, including in Texas, in the wake of the presidential election. Houston area resident Laura Bass Brown told KHOU 11 her daughter,

The texts being reported in multiple states, including South Carolina, refer to students as 'selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation'

Lower Merion and Upper Darby school districts are warning parents about racist text messages received by a number of their students.
