EAM Dr S Jaishankar travelled to Pakistan to attend the SCO Summit in Islamabad. He did not hold any formal bilateral meeting with Pakistan, however, did have informal conversations during dinner or lunch.

He described External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s recent visit to Islamabad for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting as a “good opening” and an opportunity for both nations to move beyond their troubled history.

Jaishankar travelled to Islamabad on Tuesday for a less-then-24-hour trip to attend the SCO conclave as the first Indian foreign minister to visit Pakistan in the last nine years

Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan, said he was not pleased by the ‘long pause’ in the relationship between the two countries.
