A woman from Hawaii who was reported missing last month purposely missed her connecting flight at a California airport ahead of her disappearance.

The family of Hannah Kobayashi, a Hawaii woman who vanished in L.A. after missing a connecting flight to New York, hit back at claims made by LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell about the case.

As detectives continue searching for Hannah Kobayashi, investigators have determined the Maui woman intentionally missed a connecting flight in Los Angeles.
