The agreement halts fighting between Israel and Hezbollah for 60 days, as negotiators aim to stop Lebanon’s deadliest war in decades.

The U.S.-brokered cease-fire is set to take effect Wednesday morning in Israel and Lebanon, ending more than a year of fighting tied to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. President Joe Biden said his team would continue to push for an end to fighting in Gaza.

"Under the deal reached today, effective at 4 a.m. tomorrow local time, the fighting across the Lebanese-Israeli border will end," Biden said during remarks from the White House. "This is designed to be a permanent cessation of hostilities. What is left of Hezbollah and other terrorist organisations will not be allowed," he added.
