According to the weather department the weather is expected to intensify within 12 hours. There are chances of heavy rainfall over the northern coastal districts for the next four or five days. Districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet may experience heavy rainfall in isolated places on November 28 and 29, 2024.

Moving north-northwestwards at 12 km/h, the storm system is expected to bypass Sri Lanka’s coast and approach Tamil Nadu within the next two days. However, slightly cooler sea surface temperatures closer to the coastline could weaken the system marginally before landfall.
