Indonesia's government has considered Apple's increased offer of $100 million of investment in the country, but reportedly wants more before it will lift its ban on the iPhone 16 range.

Apple has offered $100 million to Indonesia as part of an effort to lift a recent ban of the iPhone 16 in the country, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The company has presented an investment plan that would use that $100 million to set up a manufacturing plant in the nation.

This move follows the South-East Asian country’s recent ban on iPhone 16 sales due to non-compliance with local component regulations.

Tech giant Apple has made a $100 million investment proposal to Indonesia to build a plant to manufacture accessories and components, the industry ministry said on Wednesday.

Indonesia has set a rule that about 40% of the components of appliances imported into the country should be manufactured locally to promote local industries. Apple failed to meet this requirement, which saw iPhone 16 sales put on hold a few weeks after its launch in September.

Indonesia hasn't budged on Apple's $10 million investment offer to lift an iPhone 16 sales ban, so the company has reportedly increased its offer to $100 million.

The amount the U.S. tech giant has offered is 10 times higher than an initial plan to invest $10 million and will be invested over the next two years.
