Mikimoto Pearl Necklace from late 1950's/early 1960

I was nine years old in 1960 when I went with my mother and father to Mikimoto Island in Japan. (My dad was in the Air Force stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo.)

That is a widely sold basic style gold "fish hook" clasp which is secure and often used on pearl strands. It's unlikely the initial is related to the company that sold the pearls.

The pearls grew to maturity within five to eight years. The pearls are perfect on one side, the lower side being coated with mother of pearl. Their cost was about one tenth the cost of genuine pearls.
