WEBOct 3, 2009 · I spooled up a couple reels with it and on the first cast I noticed something very good! The line came off the spool smoother than any line I have ever used!. I use 12 foot rods for long distance casting and I was also getting about 10-15 yds more in my casting distance with less effort.

I assume you are looking at 50lb because you are after some big catfish. Chances are they will pull some drag, especially from a 6500...

WEBMay 5, 2019 · I run 60lb mono main line on reels rated for 30lb line. My reels are rated for 14-20lbs depending on the model. All I do is back the drag off a smidgen so its not maxed out. Most of my reels are cheaper okumas and the drag star has a tendency to loosen way up on its own if the drag is set to 10lbs or less.

So I have been using mono due to the fact that I have not found a good braid that glows with a blacklight. (then again I have not been keeping up with what is available for some time now.)
